These Buraco tricks help you maximize your score per round, trap opponents with the discard pile and time your 'Buraco' exit perfectly.
Essential tips
- Block the discard pile: discard cards your opponent desperately needs to prevent them from picking it up
- Set up your exit: when close to going out, arrange your hand so picking up the dead hand immediately allows Buraco
- Count cards: know how many rounds typically remain and how many Canastas you need to win
- Fake out: discard high-value cards you actually have duplicates of — opponents may think you don't need that suit
- In partnerships, watch your partner's melds — support the Canastas they're building instead of starting new ones
- Never leave high-pip cards (Aces, Kings, Queens) in hand when the round might end soon — they cost maximum penalty points
