Dominoes is played with 28 tiles (double-6 set), each divided into two ends with 0–6 dots. Players match tiles end-to-end to empty their hand.
Setup
Shuffle all 28 tiles face-down. Each player draws 7 tiles (2-player) or 5 tiles (3-4 players). Remaining tiles form the boneyard (draw pile).
Starting the Game
The player with the highest double (6-6, then 5-5, etc.) places it first. If no one has a double, the player with the heaviest tile starts.
Taking Turns
On your turn, place a tile that matches at least one open end of the layout. The matching number must touch the matching number. If you can't play, draw from the boneyard until you can, or pass if the boneyard is empty.
Winning a Round
The first player to play all their tiles wins the round. If the game blocks (no one can play and the boneyard is empty), the player with the fewest pips wins.
Scoring
The winner scores the total number of pips remaining in all other players' hands. First to 100 (or 200) points across multiple rounds wins the match.
4-Player Team Rules
Partners sit across from each other. Partners cannot show their tiles but can signal strength through what they play. A team wins the round when either partner empties their hand.
